Job Details:
As a Digital Systems Specialist, you will contribute to creating efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced environments that support Sentry’s operations and state of the art facility. Your expertise will play a vital role in optimizing building systems, enhancing digital infrastructure, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work with the Operations, IT, and Facilities teams to troubleshooting building systems controls such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), lighting, energy management, alarming, and system performance. Conduct regular inspections and testing to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversight of building systems at multiple GMP facilities, including remote or onsite when necessary.
- Ability to travel to multiple sites when needed.
- Collaborate and take direction from IT teams to ensure secure and efficient data flow, system availability, and scalability.
- Identify opportunities for system integration and automation to enhance efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and streamline processes. Implement and manage building automation systems, software applications, and IoT (Internet of Things) devices to optimize building performance and enable remote monitoring and control.
- Respond promptly to system issues and breakdowns, troubleshoot problems, and implement appropriate solutions. Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors for technical support and repairs as needed.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various building systems and digital infrastructure to identify trends, anomalies, and potential areas for improvement. Prepare reports and provide recommendations to stakeholders on system performance, cost-saving measures, and sustainability initiatives.
- Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to building systems, digital infrastructure, physical security, and cybersecurity.
- Conduct training sessions for employees on the proper use of building systems and digital tools. Provide technical support and guidance to users, addressing their queries and resolving issues related to building systems and digital infrastructure.
- Report any process or quality problems regarding validated/qualified equipment and implement approved corrective actions.
- Being “on-call” for facility emergencies or alarms (temperature, security, etc.).
- Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for business needs.
- Follow biotech/pharmaceutical industry standards and applicable regulations in generating and updating required documentation.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned by manager.
- May be required to travel to attend training.
Qualifications
- Ability to prioritize and plans work activities; set goals and objectives; organize, schedule, and coordinate activities with other people and availability of needed equipment; use time efficiently.
- Ability to sort out and organize multiple projects, documents, or other fragmentary information, manage competing demands.
- Completes work in timely manner. This would include working with the team/individuals to define specific goals and progress measuring tools/metrics.
- Ability to collect and analyze data, synthesize relatively complex or diverse information, and use intuition and experience to complement data.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical reports and facility drawings. Ability to respond to common inquiries from clients or service vendors, or regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency in building automation systems, software applications, and IoT technologies.
- Strong understanding of digital infrastructure components, including networks, servers, databases, and communication systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to building systems, digital infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills and ability to present numerical data effectively.
- Ability to effectively present information to management and associates.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors.

Experience
2 to 5 years building systems experience is preferred.
Experience in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry or related field is a plus.
Experience with low voltage systems such as DMP alarm panels, Notifier fire alarm system, Genetec Security Center, Genetec access control, Axis door/gate VOIP intercom systems, and/or Hanwha video surveillance systems as a plus.
Education
High School Diploma required.
Degree or certification in building automation, computer science, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Relevant certifications and additional training are a plus.
Other Skills and Abilities
Experience with Tridium Niagara BMS would be advantageous.
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted within the line of work.
Valid drivers license required.
